Happy Earth Day everyone!! We all know about Mother’s and Father’s day, but some of us are unaware (like I was until a few years ago) about this special day where we thank our planet for being so beautiful and pledge to maintain it that way. Each year, Earth Day – April 22 – marks the anniversary of what many consider the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970. The time people decided to dedicate a day or a week to work towards keeping this earth beautiful. But why not a month or forever! I know it’s a bit too much to ask in this crazy and busy life we all have. But the fact is that it is a lot easier to follow than some of the other resolutions we make every year!
So why not make a resolution today for preserving our beautiful planet!! Let’s start with pledging any one thing to keep our earth clean. It can be recycling (the proper way), eating local/organic as much as possible, meatless meals one day a week (Meatless Mondays!), saving water, using eco-friendly (phosphate free) cleaning supplies or as simple as using rechargeable batteries. All of these go a long way in helping the environment. My resolution this year is to completely eliminate wasting food and continue buying local/organic produce. Not only is it healthy for me, but it’s also healthy for my environment. Knowing how our food is grown, and how sustainable farming helps the environment, makes us more aware about the way we consume our food.
I would love to hear how you want to contribute to your environment. Let’s work together towards keeping this earth a beautiful and colorful place to live and breathe in!
